Where it lives
It never leaves your phone.
There is no account, no sign-in and no server. Nothing is uploaded, because there is nowhere for it to go.
We can never read your family's records. We cannot recover them, and we cannot hand them to anyone who asks.
That is not a policy we are promising to follow. It is how the app is built, and it would take a different app to change it.
Plainly
What that means in practice.
- No account
- Nothing to sign up for, no email address, no password, no verification code. Install it and start.
- No server
- The records are stored on your device. There is no cloud copy, so there is nothing to breach, subpoena, or sell.
- Encrypted
- Everything is encrypted on the device. The key is held in the phone's own secure hardware and released only on your fingerprint or device unlock.
- No tracking
- No analytics, no advertising, no third-party trackers. We do not know how you use it, and we do not know that you have it.
- Your backup
- Backups are encrypted with a passphrase you choose, and restore onto a new phone. The passphrase is yours. If you lose it, we cannot open the file either.
- Family view
- A separate passcode lets a sibling or a helper see a limited version of the record without seeing all of it.
The trade
Why it costs money.
Almost every app in this category is free. Free health apps are usually free because the data is the business: analytics, ad networks, or a resale market for anonymized medical records.
There is no version of that here, so the app is paid instead. You buy it once and that is the entire relationship. It is a smaller business and a much easier one to explain.
Honest limits
What this does not mean.
Because there is no server, there is no password reset and no account recovery. If you lose the phone without a backup, the records are gone. Make a backup and keep the passphrase somewhere you will find it.
Journey Patient Care is a personal record-keeping tool. It does not diagnose, treat, or monitor anything, it does not give medical advice, and it does not replace your doctor. It is not a HIPAA-covered service, because it is your own record on your own phone rather than a provider's system.
